Xambuca have been one of the musical projects to take a swing at virtual live shows during the shutdown. I've caught a couple of them, and despite the usual technical issues that everybody seems to be having with this kind of thing, the shows were entrancing. Chandra Shukla plays a mean sitar, which meshes well with the general droning ambience of the music, and he has recently released some new digital music on Bandcamp. He also runs Erototox Decodings, which is worth checking out too.
Xambuca and RK Faulhaber have collaborated, so my train of thought leads me to Mr. Faulhaber. I've known him for years, and for perhaps the first decade of that time, I don't think we ever had a serious conversation. Our minds always ended up going silly places. His music is singular, and perhaps not that accessible to the average listener. It is often truly experimental in nature, and forget things like melody or rhythm. If you're drawn to the outer fringes of what is possible though, you're in for a treat.
Esperik Glare is Charlie Martinau. I met him years ago at one of the Nurse With Wound shows in San Francisco, which should clue you in to the type of music he produces. I'll admit to not owning a lot of his music, but I recently re-listened to the 7" I have, and now I'm jonesing for more.
And finally, Nonconnah are Zachary and Denny Corsa, currently residing in Tennessee, one of the states I've never visited. Nonconnah is basically a continuation of their old project, Lost Trail. It is like alien signals coming in over the radio at 2:00 AM, half-heard conversations in cryptic languages, occult investigations gone awry, and blissful walks down country lanes. Sometimes all at once. Zachary is also somewhat of a meme master on Facebook.
